Throughout the match, it was a contested and tight battle. But when it came to realizing chances and coming up big when it mattered the most, the 17-year-old did a better job and that resulted in a two-set win.
In the first-ever meeting between Andreeva and Svitolina, the Russian saved two consecutive break points in the fourth game before collecting the lone break of the set in the 11th game.
Down by a set, the 23rd-seeded Ukrainian also found herself down by a break early in the second set but managed to get it back and tie the set to three games apiece. But just when it seemed that the 30-year-old was catching some momentum, she served two double faults in the seventh game and ended up losing the next three games and the match.

No handshake at the end between Andreeva and Svitolina
As expected, the Ukrainian tennis star didn't shake her Russian opponent's hand after their match finished. Before the match, the 17-year-old was asked about it but she played it cool by insisting she wasn't bothered by that.
"I just try not to think about it. I just try to focus on my game, to do my routines, to prepare myself that it's not going to be easy. I'm just going to try to prepare for this match as for every other match, and nothing's going to change for me. So yeah, I'm just going to do my routines and stick to what I have been doing a week before," Andreeva said before the match.
Andreeva plays next Iga Swiatek for a place in the Indian Wells final. Three weeks ago, the Russian beat the Pole en route to winning her maiden WTA 1000 title in Dubai.
