For the first time since leaving WWE, the man formerly known as Von Wagner is stepping back into the ring.
Cal Bloom has officially been announced for Mayhem at the Mall, an event set for this Saturday in Maplewood, Minnesota, under the Midwest All-Star Wrestling banner. Hell be taking on Shay Diesel in what will be his first wrestling appearance since April 2024.
Bloom, the son of former WWE star Wayne Bloom (aka Beau Beverley of the Beverly Brothers), was released from WWE on April 22, 2024 after spending five years in the companys system. His exit came less than a month after a loss to Lexis King on NXT TV, marking the end of his run as Von Wagner. Since then, hes remained off the radar, leaving fans wondering why he hadnt wrestled elsewhereuntil now.
His WWE journey was a rollercoaster. After playing college football at UCF, he signed with WWE in 2019 and reported to the Performance Center. His in-ring debut came at an NXT house show in May 2019, but he actually got a taste of the main roster before ever appearing on NXT TV. In April 2020, he wrestled Sheamus on SmackDown and later faced R-Truth on Main Event. By August 2021, he was working SmackDown dark matches before making his official NXT TV debut.
His breakout moment came when he replaced Kyle OReilly in an NXT Title match on his first night. From there, he became a regular in NXT, eventually aligning with Robert Stone and even making sporadic main roster appearances, including a May 2023 battle royal on Raw for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship.
After nearly a year away from the ring, Bloom is finally making his returnbut will this be a one-off or the start of something bigger?
