Rory McIlroy was not delighted after the second round of the Players Championship, having much higher expectations of himself. The Northern Irishman started the season in a great style, and this tournament was an opportunity for the Northern Irish to continue identically, trying to make a positive result this time as well.

Rory McIlroy spoiled his day with mistakes, primarily with a bogey on two of the last four holes, and is now two shots behind the leader of this tournament, the Australian Min Woo Lee.
The world No. 2 started on the 10th hole, birdied the opening hole, and added birdies on the 12th, 14th, 16th, and 18th holes to finish with a 31. Rory bogeyed the par-five 9th hole after his second shot hit the trees. He is more satisfied with this performance than with his one from a few days ago. Rory said he was happy with the momentum.
Much better, McIlroy said, as quoted by Belfast Telegraph.
Hit it much better off the tee. I think I hit more fairways in six holes today than I did in 18 yesterday.

Windy weekend
Yeah, got it in play much better and then from there was able to give myself some opportunities and obviously make some birdies early. Couldnt quite continue that on to the back nine, but it was much better off the tee.
The forecast calls for a windy weekend, but Rory is looking forward to the conditions. His experience and ability to handle them is certainly cause for optimism.
He is known for being a person who enjoys tough conditions, knowing that it won't be easy for anyone. However, he can take advantage of the situation.
Im looking forward to it. I think its going to be really important to try to flight your ball and keep it under the tree line. I think once it gets above the tree line here it can start to really get hit by it.

It does swirl a little bit, but I think when the wind is so strong it will be a little more consistent. This course is challenging enough, but with a wind like that, yeah, Im excited for that challenge.
Just trying to control my ball flight, trying to hit different shots, trying to play with some creativity is something that I think Ive gotten a lot better at over the last few years.- he concluded.
