Jack Draper has undoubtedly been one of the most consistent players in this start of the season, although his preparation during the winter has been conditioned by some physical problems.
The British ace has made some truly remarkable progresses in recent months and the semi-final he reached at the 2024 US Open has allowed him to have additional confidence when facing top players.
The latter is also playing really fantastic tennis in the first Masters 1000 of the season which is taking place in Indian Wells where he reached the semifinals with full merit and hopes not to stop there.
His next opponent in California will be Carlos Alcaraz, who has triumphed here in the last two editions and has not lost a single set in the entire tournament so far. Jack will start as an underdog against the 4-time Grand Slam champion in these conditions, but he can certainly put him in trouble if he plays at this level and he already beat the Spaniard at the Queen's Club last year.
Trotman is helping Draper
If Draper has improved so much in a short time, much of the credit goes to his coach James Trotman (who has been working with him since 2021).
In a recent interview with the ATP's official website, Trotman discussed his work with the British ace who has already had so many injuries during his young career: "The main goal in 2024 was to stay healthy for most of the year, avoiding injuries that could slow down his rise. It's not easy to regain confidence in your body, especially when you have several injuries one after the other."
Jack has started the new season with important ambitions and Alcaraz has confessed that the Englishman will be a very tough rival for everyone in the near future.
"The season is still very long and there will be several opportunities," Trotman continued.
"We must not be hasty at this stage, but we must be attentive to the schedule and avoid overloading his body too much. We will not do crazy things to chase the Top 10" he concluded.
