Jack Draper claims he first asked Carlos Alcaraz if he was impacted by Mohamed Lahyani's call before asking for a second video review because he did not want to be called "a cheat" like was the case during last year's Cincinnati Masters.

After the Briton returned the ball that was called to be a double bounce, the Spaniard's volley went out. But after a VAR check, it was clearly shown that the ball never twice bounced on the 23-year-old's part of the court.

While Draper's challenge attempt was successful, he didn't win the point directly as Lahyani ordered for it to be replayed. Then, the British tennis player called for another challenge, this time wanting to be checked out whether Alcaraz made the shot before the double bounce call was made.

Following the second review, Draper was directly awarded the point - he went on to break the No. 2 seed in that game - and eventually complete a 6-1 0-6 6-4 win.

Draper: I asked Alcaraz if Lahyani's call disrupted him...

"But then it was the fact that I don't think Carlos really had a good play on the ball and he missed it," the 23-year-old explained.

"So I asked him to review that, to see what he thought of that, and then the only other thing after that was, I asked Carlos at the net whether he felt like Mohamed, when he interrupted, whenever that was during the point, affected Carlos' shot, because he missed it, but he might have missed it because someone might have said Mohamed might have called it and that put him off."

Last summer in Cincinnati, the ball bounced off Draper's racket and hit the surface before it made its way onto Felix Auger-Aliassime side of the court on a match point. The chair umpire didn't call a double bounce - the Briton claimed he wasn't sure what really happened - and he ended up winning the match.

Afterward, the world No. 14 caught a lot of criticism and scrutiny, with some alleging that he definitely knew what happened but decided to remain silent.

In his Indian Wells presser, Draper admitted that he absolutely didn't want to go through something similar again.
