The Ric Flair vs. Vince Russo saga just took another twist, but according to Russo, he has no clue why The Nature Boy even mentioned him in the first place.
Last week, Flair took to Twitter to address rumors that he was trying to work his way back onto WWE TV, claiming hes still working for AEW and remains loyal to Tony Khan. In the post, he specifically called out Russo, writing:
Please @THEVinceRusso , I Thought We Agreed That You Wouldnt Use My Name To Get A Rating! I Work For My GREAT Friend And Employer @TonyKhan , Who Allows Me To Do Things With My Daughter And Understands The Importance Of Me Being In Attendance At Events Like The Hall Of Fame!
Flairs AEW status has been a topic of speculation ever since Stings farewell tour ended. His deal with AEW was structured differently than most, with Wooooo! Energy covering his earnings rather than an actual AEW contract. While he was originally scheduled to appear on the January 4, 2025 episode of AEW Collision in Charlotte, NC, those plans were scrapped, leading many to believe his run with AEW had quietly ended.
However, Flair insists hes still with Tony Khans companydespite not being seen on AEW TV since Revolution 2024. His sudden defense of his AEW status, mixed with his recent shots at John Cena over a potential 17th World Title reign, made some believe he was angling for a return to WWE.
But now, Vince Russo is firing back, claiming he has no idea why Flair is even upset. Speaking on The Wrestling Outlaws with Chris Featherstone, the former WWE and WCW writer responded to Flairs comments with complete confusion.
I swear to God, I dont know what he is talking about. I do not know what I said that triggered that, Russo said. Chris, I swear, I have no idea what he is talking about. I wish he would have referenced it because I do not know what he is talking about I have no idea, man.
Russo continued, explaining that typically when someone publicly calls him out, theres a clear reason behind itbut in this case, hes completely in the dark.
Normally, if someone is going to say something like that, you immediately know what triggered it. I have no idea what I said that brought that on. I have no idea.
While Flair remains adamant that he still works for AEW, the lack of TV appearances tells a different story. Meanwhile, Russo is left questioning what exactly set The Nature Boy off in the first place.
Do you think Ric Flair is trying to keep himself relevant, or did Vince Russo say something hes forgetting? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
