Joao Fonseca's growth path is continuing in the best way. The young Brazilian ace has a truly impressive talent, which seems to be supported by the right propensity for hard work and sacrifice.

Joao's level rose exponentially between the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, as evidenced by his victories against very strong opponents and the titles he has won.

After winning the Next Gen ATP Finals in Saudi Arabia late last year, Fonseca started the new season playing aggressive and brilliant tennis that reached its peak against Andrey Rublev in the first round of the Australian Open.

Although his opponent was much more experienced than him and it was a truly prestigious tournament, the Brazilian perfectly managed the pressure by unleashing the best performance of his young career and leaving the Russian speechless at the end of the challenge.

As if that were not enough, the current world number 60 also celebrated his first ATP title in Buenos Aires in February.

Fonseca won in Phoenix

At just 18 years old, Joao has already shown that he has the right skills to become a top player in the future and aspire to win the sport's biggest titles.

In 2025, Fonseca also won two Challenger titles. The first had been in Canberra at the beginning of the year, while the other arrived in Phoenix yesterday.

With a draw worthy of at least an ATP 250, the Brazilian star played his best on a particularly fast surface and defeated Alexander Bublik in the final with a double tiebreak after almost two hours of battle.

"I would like to thank Bublik for the show he gave everyone during this week, he played really incredible tennis.

It didn't just entertain the fans, but I enjoyed it too. I was going crazy at a certain point, I didn't know what to expect from him anymore," said Fonseca during the ceremony.
