
Rory McIlroy has special methods before important matches that carry a dose of nervousness. The Northern Irish golfer was extremely nervous before the playoff round against J.J. Spaun.

Still, Rory won the Players Championship, admitting he hadn't been so nervous in a long time. The 34-year-old golfer pointed out after the end of the tournament that he watched a movie with Anne Hathaway before the playoffs.
Although he was disappointed that he didn't finish things the day before, Rory didn't want to let negative thoughts take over him and ruin his plans for the next day. Rory wanted to sleep well, reset his mind and focus on winning.
"I was disappointed that I needed to come back this morning, but I didn't I couldn't let that mind frame linger for too long, and I had to reset and try to get a good night's sleep and come out this morning committed to get the job done." - he said, as quoted by Bellingham Herald.

The Northern Irish golfer returned to the hotel, determined to forget about the negative experience, playing a great film from 2006. It is a method that obviously relaxes him.
"Once I got back to the hotel, I just tried to sort of forget about it and had some room service, watched a little bit of Devil Wears Prada, and went to bed."

Rory revealed that he woke up at 3 a.m., visibly nervous, but he wasn't about to let that stop him on his way to victory. McIlroy managed to stay focused, motivated and celebrate against an opponent who does not have a lot of experience when it comes to the playoffs.
J.J. Spaun is not a golfer who belongs to the very top of the PGA Tour, but precisely such golfers often use such moments where there is enormous pressure on the opponent.
