Roger Federer's career in professional tennis ended about two and a half years ago, when the former Swiss champion made fans around the world cry by saying goodbye to the ATP tour at the Laver Cup at the O2 Arena in London.

That moment is destined to remain forever etched in the history of tennis, as well as the image of him and Rafael Nadal crying while shaking hands. Although he has always loved tennis more than anything else, the 20-time Grand Slam champion accepted the thought of retirement with serenity because he knew it was the right time and that he would no longer be able to compete for the titles he cared about.

The King had many knee problems in the last two years of his career and played less than he would have liked, before announcing that the Laver Cup would be his last official event and convincing Nadal to play one last doubles match together.

Federer continues to earn money

After stopping playing tennis, the former world number 1 was able to spend more time with his family and focus on all the projects related to his figure.

The Swiss was the protagonist of a documentary on 'Amazon Prime Video' that chronicled the last days of his career as a player, visited South Africa again for his Foundation, attended some tournaments as a special guest (the last time at the 2024 Rolex Shanghai Masters) and continued to collaborate with his many sponsors.

Roger earned about $130 million in tournament prize money alone, but his off-court fortune was even more impressive.

In particular, the 'Swiss Maestro' made the shocking decision to leave Nike to move to Uniqlo in 2018.

Subsequently, he became one of the shareholders of the 'On Running' brand by investing more than 50 million dollars.

This partnership has proved to be a huge success for both On and Federer himself, as his stake is currently worth around $360 million.
