Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz continue to compete for the role of symbolic face of men's tennis at the moment. The Italian ace is the world number 1 by a wide margin over all his opponents, including the Spanish star, although the 21-year-old from Murcia defeated his top rival three times last season.

There is no doubt that Carlitos was earlier than Jannik having already won four Grand Slam titles and five Masters 1000 despite being two years younger but the 23-year-old from Sesto Pusteria has achieved much better results in the last year.
Sinner who is currently out of action due to a three-month ban after the agreement with WADA has raised his level exponentially since January 2024 and although he does not have Carlos' spectacular play nor his innate charisma he has become the best player in the world with full merit.
Alcaraz on the other hand is able to reach peaks that have few equals in the recent history of tennis, but he has not yet solved the problem of regularity during the season. The 4-time Grand Slam champion is subject to too many ups and downs during the year and this trend has also been confirmed by his results in the first tournaments of 2025.

Santopadre opens up onAlcaraz and Sinner
Their rivalry is only at thebeginning and only time will tell who is destined to prevail.
In a recent interview, Vincenzo Santopadre former coach of Matteo Berrettini spoke about Alcaraz and Sinner: "The Spaniard is younger and still needs to grow in certain aspects, while the Italian is more mature and knows how to think like a true champion thanks to the values that have been transmitted to him.
Carlitos is more exuberant while playing and has a harder time managing some situations. However, Spain can really be proud of a player like him."
The current world number 3 will be looking to get a good result at the Miami Open and overtake Alexander Zverev in the ATP ranking. The Spaniard will have to win the tournament and hope that Sascha does not reach the quarterfinals.
