Sting might not be done with WWE after all. With his longtime friend and former tag team partner Lex Luger set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, the wrestling world is now watching closely to see if The Icon will make a surprise return to the company he left nearly a decade ago.
According to Fightful Select, Luger and those in his circle informed WWE that Sting was their top choice to induct him. That alone has sparked major discussions behind the scenes, with WWE reportedly making efforts to bring Sting in for the ceremony. Despite officially retiring over a year ago, Sting remains under an AEW Legends-style deal, but its unclear whether AEW would need to sign off on him appearing on WWE programming.
It was also indicated that Sting had initially planned for only a brief trip to Las Vegas during WrestleMania week. However, that schedule has now expanded, adding further speculation that something is in the works.
Eric Bischoff weighed in on the possibility of WWE welcoming Sting back for the ceremony, dismissing any notion that the company would block him simply because of his AEW ties.
He also shot down the idea that WWE would hold any grudges against former AEW stars, calling it a false perception.
While nothing is set in stone, its clear that WWE is at least open to making this happen. If Sting does show up, it would mark his first WWE appearance since his own Hall of Fame induction in 2016, and a massive moment for his legacy with Luger.
Now the real question iswill WWE and AEW come to terms to make it happen? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
