Future Stars of Wrestlings Beynefit For Bey is set to be a massive event, bringing together talent from WWE, AEW, and TNA to support Chris Bey after his devastating neck injury. But the biggest shock? Tyson Kidd nearly stepped back into the ring for the first time since his career-ending spinal cord injury in 2015.
FSW owner Joe DeFalco revealed that WWEs TJ Wilson (Kidd) was in talks to team with Rey Mysterio against Dominik Mysterio and Karrion Kross in what would have been a surreal tag team main event. Rey Mysterio was going to work the show, which was crazy to me. He wanted to work. He was trying to tag team with TJ Wilson, who hasnt wrestled in forever, DeFalco told Fightful.
According to DeFalco, Kross even reached out to Kidd about making it happen, and the former WWE Tag Team Champion was all in. TJ was like, Dont worry about it. I wont do any high-flying stuff. I would just do mat stuff, he explained.
Unfortunately, WWEs Road to WrestleMania tour in Europe derailed those plans, forcing Kidd and Rey to pull out. But they werent the only ones affectedCM Punk was also on board for the show but had to back out due to WWEs scheduling conflict. Bey was talking to CM Punk yesterday, and Punk was like, If we werent on this tour, I would have worked the show, DeFalco added.
Even without those big names, the card is stacked. Kross will still represent WWE, taking on Hammerstone, while AEW stars like Swerve Strickland, Brian Cage, and Ricochet will be in action. TNAs presence will be just as strong with Frankie Kazarian, The Rascalz, and others showing up for Bey.
Chris Bey has history with many names on the card, including Cage and Hammerstone, but hes never faced Punk, Kidd, or the Mysteriosthough theyve publicly praised him. Now, the wrestling world will rally behind Bey for one unforgettable night in Las Vegas.
Should Tyson Kidd finally make his in-ring return? And could CM Punk still find a way to be part of the show? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
