Simona Halep has been enjoying her time since retiring from pro tennis and is still exploring what to do next in her life but hints that it will likely be something not associated with sports.

After seeing her 2024 comeback being derailed by a knee injury - the same issue that also kept the former world No. 1 out of this year's Australian Open - the Romanian decided to walk away from the game by playing one last time in front of her home fans in Cluj-Napoca last month. Since the 33-year-old lost to Lucia Bronzetti in the Cluj-Napoca first round, exactly a month and a half has passed.

"I didn't say that I'm totally involved in business or any other field, I'm currently resting and just want to enjoy myself and discover other things besides sports. I don't think it will be related to sports, I don't know what I will do. Right now I just want to rest and enjoy everything I have done so far," Halep said at the Romanian Sports Gala, via Romanian publication Gazeta Sporturilor.

Halep confirms an exhibition, praises Mirra Andreeva

During her appearance at the Romanian Sports Gala, the 2019 Wimbledon winner also shared that she would take part in an exhibition match in Iasi in mid-July. While she plans to do more exhibitions in the future, she noted that the Iasi exho is the only one for now in her 2025 schedule.

When asked if she watches tennis, Halep revealed that she turned on the Indian Wells final between Andreeva and Aryna Sabalenka, which the 17-year-old Russian won 2-6 6-4 6-3. And the Romanian tennis legend was left impressed by the teenage sensation.

"I watched a little bit of the Indian Wells final and I really liked how Mirra Andreeva played. I think she's going to be very, very good," the former two-time Grand Slam champion said.
