One of wrestlings most respected warriors is stepping away from the ring. Homicide, former ROH World Champion and Indie Wrestling Hall of Famer, has announced that his in-ring career is coming to an end due to a cyst on his brain that has been causing vision and speech issues.
Taking to Facebook, Homicide delivered an emotional message to fans. Cant believe Im saying goodbyenot just to a job, but to my passion, the sport of pro wrestling, he wrote.
He revealed that after months of worsening symptoms, he was forced to make the difficult decision to retire. My vision, speech are bad [because of the] hard hits, getting knocked out, and then hopping on a plane to travel.
But Homicide isnt going out quietly. His final match is set for March 20 at Outlaw Wrestling in Brooklyn, NYC, a city that has been part of his identity from day one. He will team with Bull James against Mike Santana and Afa Jr., a match he personally selected for his farewell. I want people to party and smileexcept for Afa Jr.
For over two decades, Homicide has been a pillar of independent wrestling. From his time as ROH World Champion to his run in TNA as part of LAX, his impact on the industry is undeniable. He was a driving force in shaping the independent scene after the fall of WCW and ECW, and his legendary battles with Bryan Danielson and Steve Corino in ROH are etched in history.
Brooklyn is the perfect place for Homicide to say goodbye. Hes always repped Bed-Stuy, Do or Die, and now he gets to close his career on his home turf. The Outlaw Wrestling event will also feature Crowbar, Bear Bronson, Sonny Kiss, Tina San Antonio, and more.
Homicide made one thing clearthis isnt a full goodbye, just a see you later. But with his in-ring career now in the rearview, the question is, whats next for The Latin Terror?
