Demolition officially re-signed with WWEunder Legends deals earlier this year and rumor suggested that they were being discussed for Hall of Fame inductions this year. However, it appears that its highly unlikely they will be inducted this year.
While speaking to Ten Count Media, Bill Eadie (Ax) from Demolition talked about how much fun it is to go to conventions and meet fans. He said that many people ask when he and Barry Darsow (Smash) will be in the WWE Hall of Fame, but he isnt sure if it will ever happen because there are so many great tag teams out there.
When asked what it would take for them to accept a Hall of Fame induction, Barry Darsow remembered a conversation he had with Bill at WrestleMania, during WrestleCon. They joked about what they would do if WWE asked them to join.
Since they have been out of wrestling for about 20 years, they wondered if it would even matter now. Barry mentioned that wrestlers usually get around $5,000 or $6,000 for being in the Hall of Fame. He laughed and said that for them, it would probably take at least $100,000 to agree.
Barry explained that if he got that money, he would give $10,000 to his mother-in-laws church in Belmont, North Carolina. He would also give $10,000 to his son, who works as a deputy in the sheriffs department with the K-9 unit. He thought about giving more money to different charities and even giving some to his tag team partner. While he was joking about the amount, he said thats what it would take to convince them.
Bill added that its always nice when fans tell them they should be in the Hall of Fame. He and Barry are thankful that people still remember them and their time in wrestling. While being in the Hall of Fame would be a nice honor, they dont worry about it too much. If it happens, great and if not, they wont lose sleep over it. They are just happy to have fans who still support them.
This comes after Sean Ross Sapp reported that WWE is seriously discussing the possibility of inducting Demolition into the Hall of Fame. Sapp noted that while he is unsure if it will happen this year, the legendary tag team has been brought up in internal discussions. He emphasized that their induction is long overdue, calling them one of the greatest teams in WWE history.
For now, Demolitions induction into the WWE Hall of Fame is still uncertain. While WWE continues to honor legendary tag teams, fans will have to wait and see if Ax & Smash finally receive the recognition many believe they deserve.
