Reilly Opelka is back in the winning circle at a Masters 1000 level! The American reached the fourth round in Indian Wells in 2022. He defeated Lorenzo Musetti and Denis Shapovalov before falling to Rafael Nadal in two tie breaks.

After seven consecutive Masters 1000 losses, the giant server made a winning start in Miami following a 6-3, 7-6 triumph over Chris Eubanks in an hour and 25 minutes on the Stadium.
The younger American claimed nine points more than his compatriot and claimed 39 of 42 points after landing in the first serve! Reilly defended the only break point he faced and mounted the pressure on the other side. Chris played against four break points.

Opelka forged a 35-25 advantage in service winners and had the upper hand from the baseline to seal the deal in style. Reilly landed a forehand crosscourt winner in the second game of the duel for a break point. Chris denied it with an ace and avoided an early setback.
The younger American faced the only break point in the fifth game and canceled it with a powerful serve. Opelka closed the seventh game with a forehand winner and made a push on the return in the next one. Eubanks netted a forehand and faced two break points.

He denied them and earned a game point. However, he missed a backhand and faced the third break point after a forced error. Reilly attacked and drew the rival's backhand error, earning a break and moving 5-3 in front. Opelka served for the set in game nine.
He held at love with a forced error for 6-3 in 37 minutes and a boost. The second set provided no opportunities for the returners. Eubanks held at 15 in game nine with a service winner, and Opelka responded with an ace in the next one for 5-5.

Reilly served to stay in the set at 5-6 and held at 15 with a forced error to introduce a tie break. The younger American kept his composure in the sixth point and landed a lob winner for 3-3. He landed a volley winner at 4-3 to grab a mini-break and move in front.
World no. 114 painted an ace down the T line at 5-4 for two match points. He convertedthe first with another, moving over the top and celebrating his first Masters 1000 win in three years.
