The drama over whether Sting will return to WWE to induct Lex Luger into the Hall of Fame just got a reality checkstraight from Eric Bischoff. The former WCW boss didnt hold back on his 83 Weeks podcast, weighing in on the reported tension between AEW and WWE over the whole situation.
With Lex Luger requesting Sting to induct him, and WWE reportedly giving it the green light, That put the ball in Tony Khans court, according to Dave Meltzer. But Bischoff isnt impressed with the supposed hesitation from AEWs boss.
Falls into the stupid [ __ ] category for me. Its just silliness, Bischoff said bluntly. He pointed out that this isnt about WWE leadership trying to pull stringsIts not Triple H Its not Nick Khan. Its not Ari Emanuel. Its Lex Luger. Thats his privilege. It should be. Its important to him.
Bischoff then called out what he sees as petty behavior from AEWs side if they refuse to let Sting appear just to get even for WWEs past slights. If Tony believes, like Dave Meltzer suggests, Well, you wouldnt do it for me, so Im not going to do it for youif youre gonna take that kind of infant attitude to your business, then youre going to get what youre going to get.
He offered a different perspective: use the moment to rise above. Now is the time that I would prove Im bigger than them Because youre not doing it for WWE. Youre doing it for Lex Luger. And thats what would make you the better man.
While Meltzer suggested AEW could try to negotiate a tradelike a plug for one of their shows or even an apology for the infamous pissant company lineBischoff thinks thats missing the point entirely.
At the end of the day, this isnt about business politics. Its about giving a wrestling legend the moment he wants.
