Chris Jericho doesnt shy away from controversyor pain. Case in point: his wild, no-rules brawl against deathmatch legend Nick Gage at AEW Fight For The Fallen 2021, where the chaos reached new levels thanks to a pizza cutter and a perfectly timed Dominos commercial.

In a new interview with Inside the Ropes, Jericho finally addressed the bizarre moment that became an internet legend. During the match, Gage sliced Jerichos arm and forehead with a pizza cutterhis signature weaponjust as a Dominos ad played during AEWs picture-in-picture segment. The commercial? A fresh pie getting sliced with a pizza cutter. The timing was unreal.

Dominos got in touch briefly after that matchthat was hilarious, Jericho said with a laugh. So, Nick wanted to do a pizza cutthats one of his gimmicks. Right out of the gate, he slices my arm with a pizza cutter. I still have a scar there, and that gets people thinking, Oh, this is real!

But the real magic happened during the commercial break. During the picture-in-picture, Gage starts slicing my forehead with the pizza cutter, Jericho recalled. Right when Nick is carving my forehead theres a Dominos Pizza commercial where the guy is cutting a pizzawith what? A pizza cutter! Cutting, cutting!

The internet exploded. Dominos reportedly wasnt thrilled, and headlines suggested AEW could lose major sponsors over the gore-filled moment. Jericho? He couldnt stop laughing.

Apparently, Dominos was furious. People were saying, AEW is going to lose all their sponsors! This is it! This is the end of the line! But nothing ever happened, Jericho said. Honestly, if I were the Dominos guy, I would have filmed a Chris JerichoNick Gage commercial the next day. I mean, its right therepizza cutters and Dominos go hand in hand!

Earlier reports suggest Nick Gage is unlikely to ever get a full-time AEW deal because of the backlash, Jericho has no regrets. The match mightve left scars, but it also carved out one of the most memorableand talked-aboutsegments in AEW history.

What do you think? Should Dominos have capitalized on the pizza cutter spot with a wild crossover ad? Or was the whole situation too much for mainstream viewers? Drop your thoughts below and let us know how you wouldve handled it.
