Its been almost seven years since WWE made history with Evolution, the companys first-ever all-womens pay-per-view. Fans and wrestlers alike have begged for a sequelbut just when it looked like WWE might finally deliver, doubt is creeping back in.
A recent report from PWN got everyone talking, claiming WWE was planning an Evolution Premium Live Event for July 5 at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. WWE is looking to host an Evolution PLE in the near future. Everything on the schedule is still tentative, but its currently set for 7/5, the report read.
The news had people hyped. After all, the 2018 edition of Evolution was a fan-favorite event, featuring Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella in the main event and delivering huge moments for WWEs womens division. But now? Things are looking shaky.
Fightful Selects Sean Ross Sapp was asked during a recent Q&A podcast whether hed heard anything about the rumored return of Evolution. His response didnt do much to ease concerns. I have yet to hear that, just outside of the reports. I have not confirmed that.
That doesnt necessarily kill the idea completely, but with July creeping up fast and WWE staying quiet, its hard to ignore the silence. No official announcement. No promo packages. No hint on television. Nothing.
Bayley, among others, has been openly campaigning for another all-womens event, and fans have been vocal about wanting it too. But unless WWE makes a move soon, its fair to question whether Evolution 2 is actually happeningor if its just another plan that gets lost in the shuffle.
Ringside News will keep you updated if more information regarding the WWE Evolution event becomes available.
