Jannik Sinner is a proud owner of 42 world no. 1 weeks! The Italian kicked off another week on the ATP throne on Monday, leaving Andy Murray on 41 and edging closer to Gustavo Kuerten's 43.

Jannik is the 14th player in ATP history with 42 world no. 1 weeks, and he will become the 13th with 44 in two weeks. Sinner has not played since the Australian Open, accepting a three-month ban and preparing to return at home Rome Masters.
In the meanwhile, Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz missed his chances to pass the Italian and take the throne from him. The Spaniard lost a chance to do that following setbacks in Indian Wells and Miami. Despite a streak of poor results, the German in still in contention.
Jannik stands on 10330 ATP points on the live ATP ranking list, dropping 1000 points for last year's Miami Open title. If Alexander conquers the season's second Masters 1000 event of the season, he will reduce the gap to the Italian to below 2000 points.

Thus, Zverev will have a chance to become the 30th ATP world no. 1 with deep runs in Monte Carlo, Munich and Madrid. In the meanwhile, Sinner will collect more weeks at the top and move closer to Jim Courier's 58.

Jannik finished the 2023 season ranked 4th and with a couple of wins over Novak Djokovic. He gained confidence and became the dominant figure in men's tennis in 2024. The young gun wrapped up the previous season with a 73-6 score!
