Viktor Hovland ended his negative streak, and finally achieved victory at one of the PGA Tour tournaments. From the first day of the Valspar Championship, the Norwegian golfer was focused, ready to spoil the plans of his rivals, and in the end he succeeded in doing so. Justin Thomas, despite the lead, was unable to maintain the same, and was still denied the victory in the finish line.
On the other hand, the Norwegian golfer had the right to be happy with this victory, sharing his emotions after the end of the tournament.
The 27-year-old is motivated to make history at the Masters, but achieving such success will be much more difficult.
Viktor admitted that this kind of victory helps before the Masters, but he points out that he has to change some finesse in the game if he really wants to make a big step at this Major.
Definitely helps, he said, as quoted by The Golfing Gazette.
Kind of goes back to what Im saying about being hard on myself and being sure you could call it a perfectionist, its like some of the shots that Im hitting, its going to make it really difficult for me to be in contention at Augusta if I dont rectify that problem, if I dont see the improvements there.
Its just a different golf course. Youre going to hit so many long irons into par-4s and you got drive it pretty far because the fairways are pretty wide, its more of a bombers paradise versus this place its more just about being precise off the tee."

The 27-year-old believes that the next two weeks will serve him well to prepare for such a great challenge, which will be anything but simple. Winning at Augusta Natonal is the dream of every golfer, and the question is whether the Norwegian can really get to the throne?
