Coco Gauff didn't hide her disappointment after crashing out of the Miami Open following a lackluster round-of-16 performance and picking up a shock 4-6 4-6 defeat to world No. 34 Magda Linette.

After the American double-bageled Sofia Kenin and also ousted Maria Sakkari 6-2 6-4, some thought those were the signs that the 21-year-old's recent slump was coming to an end. But then, the 2023 US Open champion's woes reappeared against Linette and she hit 12 double faults and also sprayed 45 unforced errors.
And after registering yet another disappointing result in 2025, Gauff was the first to admit that it was a disastrous day at the office.
"It wasnt great today. It hasnt been the last few weeks -- Im trying to figure that out. Definitely not happy about it... just one of those days when I felt awful in everything on the court," the world No. 3 admitted.
Gauff tried to downplay the concerns regarding her form
After not winning a single match during the WTA 1000 tournaments in Doha and Dubai, the American came to Indian Wells insisting there wasn't anything to worry about.

"I don't know, everybody makes a bigger deal than what it is... I lost two matches. I'll lose more matches back to back, it's going to happen," she explained in the desert.
After this statement, Gauff beat Moyuka Uchijima and Sakkari but couldn't make it past the round-of-16 after losing to Belinda Bencic.
In her pre-tournament presser in Miami, the 21-year-old remained adamant that everything was fine and that some of the comments made about her form just weren't correct.
Sometimes when I dont do well, people think theres something personally wrong with me. Im like, I just lost a couple of matches! Im chillin,'" the American tennis star said a week ago.
After not-so-great runs in the Middle East and the Sunshine Double, Gauff will be hoping to turn the page during the upcoming clay season. In mid-April, she is slated to start her clay season in Stuttgart, where she reached only one quarterfinal in her past three appearances.
