The countdown to this years WrestleMania is in full swing. Including today, there are 26 days until the weekend of April 19 and 20. 52 matches in the history of WrestleMania include women. Diva Dirt will countdown two matches daily to rank all 52 leading up to this years event.

Yesterday we kicked off the countdown with number 52 and 51. You can view that here. Lets get into numbers 50 and 49!

50. WrestleMania 2

Fabulous Moolah (c) def. Velvet McIntyre WWF Ladies Championship

Lets take it all the way back to 1986 and a match that would have made Twitter (if it existed in the 80s) a buzz with #GiveLadiesAChance due to an 85-second-long match between the WWF Ladies Champion Fabulous Moolah vs. Velvet McIntyre. Moolah started the match out of the gates tossing around McIntyre by her hair. McIntyre would get a slight offense in but the match ended in controversial fashion. So controversial in fact that commentary didnt even mention it. All they were concerned about is how quickly Moolah picked up the win. McIntyres foot was on the ropes and the only people who seemed to notice, or care was the fans.

This was also the last womans match on a WrestleMania until WrestleMania 10, so it was definitely a letdown to say the least. McIntyre would eventually win the WWF Ladies Title later that year but only hold it for 5 days before dropping it back to Moolah.

49. WrestleMania 22

Torrie Wilson def. Candice Michelle Playboy Pillow Fight Match

This match was definitely a trend for its time. Credit will be given to both ladies for actually pulling out wrestling moves and not just making it a thrown down slapping kind of affair. However, with the rest of the matches on this list, this one cant possibly go any higher. I know, I know, this was a thing during its time and fit into the era but was it really needed? The crowd didnt seem much into it either and it didnt get the pops when it should have.

Commentary continued to be cringe as always, however, they were right about one thing, not a pillow was involved in this pillow fight. Weird.

Oddly enough, this is the last one-on-one womens match on a WrestleMania main show that did not involve a title. Thats a crazy statistic.

Check back in with us here at Diva Dirt tomorrow for numbers 48 and 47 as the countdown continues!
