One can never predict who might show up at AEW shows, since its never a surprise if a former WWE or TNA talent makes an appearance. In fact, it appears a former TNA name made an appearance during the March 26th edition of AEW Dynamite this week.
According to a report by PWInsider, former TNA and WWE announcer Josh Mathews was backstage at AEW Dynamite in Minnesota. Its unclear whether he was just visiting or if he might be joining AEW. His wife, Madison Rayne, has been working for the company as a producer and coach for several years.
In addition to Josh Matthews making an appearance, former WWF, WCW, and ECW star Perry Saturn was also backstage, catching up with talents he worked with during his wrestling career.
As previously reported, Josh Mathews left TNA Wrestling last month. He originally joined the company in 2014 as the lead play-by-play commentator, replacing Mike Tenay, bringing his WWE experience to the role as both a color and lead announcer. In recent years, Mathews transitioned into a behind-the-scenes role, focusing on production and digital media as a senior producer and senior director.
With Josh Mathews recently leaving TNA and now making a backstage appearance at AEW, fans are speculating whether he might be looking to join All Elite Wrestling in some capacity. Whether as a commentator or in a backstage production role, his experience would be a valuable addition to the company.
Do you think AEW should bring in Josh Mathews? Would you like to see him return to commentary, or would he be better suited for a behind-the-scenes role? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
