The March 28 episode of WWE SmackDown took place at the O2 in London, England. The event aired earlier in some regions. While the show will broadcast live on the USA Network tonight, spoilers are available at Ringside News.
Cody Rhodes has a lot going on with the road to WrestleMania in full swing. On RAW this week, he had an explosive segment with John Cena, and this week on SmackDown, the American Nightmare opened up the show as Undisputed WWE Champion.
After fans gave Cody Rhodes an amazing reception, he got down to discussing what everyone is talking about. Fans chanted for and against John Cena as Rhodes stood there to let them go a bit longer. Then he started talking about his upcoming WrestleMania 41 match against John Cena thats going down in 22 days. Then he pivoted to speak about how he will stand face-to-face with John Cena in London for RAW.
Randy Orton came out next, and that popped the fans in a big way. They also sang his theme song even after the music was cut off. Randy started out by giving Cody Rhodes props for changing the pro wrestling business by leaving WWE so many years ago to do his own thing. Then the Viper said the industry has changed forever since Rhodes stepped foot back in WWE.
Orton said that ticket sales have been up around the world, and its mostly because of Cody Rhodes. After saying he loves and is proud of him, The Apex Predator brought a focus to WrestleMania, where he promised to kick Kevin Owens in the head. He also said that Cody will leave Mania as champion, but not before he beats John Cena up the Las Vegas strip, but after the dust settles, Orton said he will want to go after his 15th World Title reign, but hes not going to go about it the cowards way.
At that time, Drew McIntyre came out as fans popped for the Scottish Warrior. Drew was on his heel kick, and he mocked the babyfaces love fest in the ring. He made it clear that he will be coming for that title as well. Fans popped at McIntyre saying that he will get the title next. Randy Orton didnt like being interrupted, and then McIntyre said that Ortons back is hanging by a thread, and he threatened to break it. A bit of action happened after that as Drew went for Cody, but the American Nightmare was able to fight him off.
The segment ended with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton in the ring together, as Drew McIntyre took off. We will have to see what happens on the road to WrestleMania 41.
