Rory McIlroy was known as the biggest critic of LIV Golf and their ideas on the golf scene, but over the months this famous golfer softened his views and showed that he was open to a merger between PIF and the PGA Tour.

Guesting on one of the podcasts, the Northern Irish golfer admitted that he was perhaps too judgmental, given that he could not distinguish what conditions golfers like himself and Woods had compared to some younger or less popular golfers.

"I was probably judgemental of the guys who went at the start, and I think that was a bit of a mistake on my part because I now realise not everyone's in my position or Tiger's [Woods] position. And you get this offer and what do you do?"- he said, as quoted by MIRROR.

The 35-year-old is aware that every golfer has to make a living from this sport, and the fabulous offers that were coming in for individuals were hard to refuse.

"We all turn professional to make a living playing the sports that we do and I think that's what I realised over the past two years. I can't judge people for making that decision. So if I regret anything it was probably being too judgemental at the start."- he said.

Rory McIlroy on the money talk

However, the experienced golfer has always had a different understanding than some, considering that he emphasized prestige and winning trophies, rather than money. Rory admits he is frustrated by the money story, which has become topical with the arrival of LIV Golf.

He still feels that the golf world can operate as it once did; without a lot of talk about money, prizes and things that are not related to trophies and successes.

"Whenever I dreamed of being a professional golfer, it was about winning trophies and it was about winning major championships.

And this happens in all sports but to me I'm just sick of the money talk in golf because the fans don't care. They just want to watch good golf and watch people compete against each other. They don't care if you're making this or this guy's on 200,000 a week right? It doesn't resonate."- he concluded.
