Rory McIlroy cannot be happy after the last round of the Texas Children's Houston Open, considering that he is seven strokes behind the leader of this tournament, Scottie Scheffler. The Northern Irish golfer finished the round with a four-under 66, after a delay due to weather conditions, and is at T30 with four shots under par.

McIlroy does not want to be negative, considering the previous great results, stressing that he must give his best in the next rounds. Although he admits that a lot depends on his competitors, McIlroy admits that he will be satisfied if he plays well down the stretch.

I think I just have to play my own tournament and stay in my own little world, try to get the best out of myself, McIlroy said, as quoted by Belfast Telegraph.

Whether that's good enough or not, that's not really up to me at this point; that's up to the guys that are in front of me on the leaderboard.

But if I can go out there and shoot a couple of good scores over the weekend, I'll be happy with my week's work.

Rory McIlroy talks about his performance

Explaining his slightly worse performance, Rory admitted that he was not really impressed with the game. He pointed out that it was crucial to hit a few putts, but it is still far from the desired result. The famous golfer tries to focus on positive things during the last tournament.

Not really. I mean, I hit it a little better coming in. I holed a couple of putts, and that was it, he said.

Again, it's the sort of golf course where it's easy to just make a ton of pars, not a lot of trouble out there, but you just need some putts to go in to obviously make birdies.

Started back off the suspension with a three-putt par on the eighth hole and hit some better shots coming in.

It was nice to see a couple of putts go in and get finished and obviously, get a couple more rounds here over the weekend.
