Swerve Strickland just dragged WWEs past right into the spotlightand hes not sugarcoating anything.
In a recent chat with VladTV, Swerve didnt hold back when asked about Booker Ts past comments about fairness in WWE. His response? A blunt reminder of one of WWEs most infamous moments involving Vince McMahon.
Thats not what happened when Vince said the N-word in front of you, Swerve said, referring to a 2005 WWE segment where Vince dropped the racial slur while speaking to John Cena, right in front of Booker T and his wife Sharmell. Thats not being treated fair, in my opinion.
Swerve made it clearthis isnt just about one moment or one person. Its about how the company has ignored feedback from its own fan base.
Im saying what your audience is saying. So its not just me just talking out of my ass out of nowhere, he continued. Im regurgitating what your fan base is telling you that youre not hearing.
He also called out WWEs handling of Black talent on major shows, saying, Why is there no African-American talent? You put the Black celebrities in the audience they want to see the same people that represent them perform at these shows, and theyre not seeing that.
Even Triple H didnt escape criticism. Since that quote, youre hearing quotes from Triple H saying he doesnt see color in press conferences, Swerve noted. That doesnt help the issue.
Swerves message wasnt about bitternessit was about truth. Im not saying anything brutal or mean or disrespectful to the company, he said. I moved on and I got my money.
Do you agree with Swerve calling out WWEs treatment of Black talent? Or do you think the companys done enough? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
