Lex Luger Reveals Health Status Ahead of WWE Hall of Fame Induction

In a new interview with Bill Apter, the 66-year-old wrestling icon opened up about how his mobility issues have evolved since he first suffered a spinal stroke during a flight back in 2007. I had some mobility after the spinal cord surgery. It was like a two percent category. They call me a high-functioning quadriplegic, Luger said. Im a quadriplegic, but I have a lot of things that affect me to this day.

Luger explained that he was able to stay somewhat mobile for a time but ultimately had to rely more heavily on a wheelchair after experiencing repeated falls. Over a period of years I had some scary falls, they told me to use a walker and wheelchair more. The old saying, If you dont use it, you lose it, he admitted.

Despite being wheelchair-bound, Luger insists hes doing well overallespecially when it comes to his overall health. I could live independently and my health was really good. My health is great. I just have mobility issues from my injury, he continued. But my health and check-ups, no meds, my health is incredibly wonderful, which Im also very thankful for.

Thanks to help from his longtime friend and fellow wrestling legend Diamond Dallas Page, Luger has even regained the ability to stand. With his WWE Hall of Fame induction set for April 18, the Total Package says hes hoping to be on his feet when he accepts his honor.

I was thankful for what I could do but my mobility had gotten to where I was pretty much in the chair full-time, Luger added. But that might change by the time he steps onto the Hall of Fame stage.

Lex Lugers road has been tough, but hes still standingliterally and figuratively.
