
Angel Cabrera, a 55-year-old Argentinian golfer filled the front pages of golf magazines because of his specific case, after spending 30 months in prison for domestic assault and intimidation. The experienced golfer was released in August 2023, but although he was released, Cabrera could not play at the Masters.
Nevertheless, an experienced face of the golf scene will perform this year.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, the Argentine looked back on his case, saying that he is deeply sorry for everything. Angel believes that he made a huge mistake, but he wants to take an advantage of the second chance in life.

But I regret everything that I have done wrongly in my past. I am also frustrated that I dumped very, very important years of my life. I made mistakes.
It is one of the worst things that can happen to a human being, not being able to have freedom. The lack of freedom is something really difficult, really hard. And on the other hand, you know, I can tell you that the most important thing I feel right now is the second chance, the opportunity to get back on the right track.

Cabrera: I wasn't in prison with gang members
His wife accused him of physically abusing her in 2016, just like his ex-girlfriends. His case caused real chaos in the golf scene, and ultimately this experienced player felt huge consequences.
In an interview with the British media, the Argentine pointed out that he did not have many problems in prison, considering that the people in prison with him were mostly older and educated people.
The people in prison with me, they were mostly older people and educated and so it was a relatively okay environment. It wasnt adangerous one, Cabrera concluded.
The famous golfer confirmed that he was not in the area where dangerous gangs are.
