Mensik held after a deuce in game eight, and Djokovic repeated that at 5-5 before they embraced another tie break. They traded four mini-breaks in the opening seven points, with Novak serving at 3-4. The veteran dropped two points on serve and faced three match points.

Jakub seized the second, taking the breaker 7-4 and moving over the top.
