Jakub Mensik is a Masters 1000 champion! The young Czech prevailed over Novak Djokovic 7-6, 7-6 in two hours and three minutes in the Miami Open final for his first ATP title. Thus, Mensik became the first player born in 2005 with a Masters 1000 crown.
A teenager took the pivotal points over his idol, denying Djokovic's 100th ATP title and the record-breaking seventh in Miami. The match started hours behind the schedule due to rain. We saw one break on each side and a tight battle from start to finish.
Mensik clinched seven mini-breaks over two tie breaks and took the down the greatest player of all time for a career-best moment. Novak served at 76% and stayed neck and neck with his opponent behind the first serve.

Mensik held after a deuce in game eight, and Djokovic repeated that at 5-5 before they embraced another tie break. They traded four mini-breaks in the opening seven points, with Novak serving at 3-4. The veteran dropped two points on serve and faced three match points.
Jakub seized the second, taking the breaker 7-4 and moving over the top.
