Rory McIlroy decided to play at the Houston Open, a tournament that should be a prelude to a great performance at the Masters. The Northern Irishman entered this tournament as one of the favorites, especially since he had previously won two PGA Tour titles this year.
Although he did not win this tournament, McIlroy caused positive reactions, finishing as T5.
Although the start of this tournament was not promising, the famous golfer picked up the pace, and during the last day he even threatened to win the trophy.
In an interview with the Golf Channel, the 35-year-old stressed that he had minor problems with an elbow injury, but he hopes that he will be fully prepared for the greatest challenge of this season, the Masters tournament.

"My right elbow has been bothering me a little bit so I'll maybe just get some treatment on that and make sure that is OK going into Augusta," McIlroy told the Golf Channel, as quoted by Sky Sports.
"I've got my coach Michael Bannon coming in tomorrow [Monday], we'll do some work and make sure everything is in good shape for a week's time."
Rory McIlroy talks about his game
Overall, McIlroy is satisfied with his performance, especially on the last day, noticing many positive things in the game. Rory admitted that he felt improvement day by day, but he thinks this is a great introduction to the Masters.
"The last three days were really good," McIlroy said.
"I went to the range and took the loft off a little bit and definitely drove the ball better today. That was a positive, as was seeing some putts go in.

As I went on during the week I got better and better, as the scores suggest. It was a good week. Still stuff to work on but overall a solid week, and now have another week to get ready and fine-tune my game heading to Augusta."
However, he emphasizes that he is still not under 100% control, but he is happy to be able to work on some things.
