Ryan Fox and his group were at the center of controversy after last week's performance at the Houston Open. The experienced Australian played in the final group together with Alejandro Tosti and the victorious Min Woo Lee. However, the pace of play was a problem for some, as Lee had a lengthy discussion with his caddy.

Tosti, it seems, was not quite happy with that, deciding not to play it from his knees beneath a small tree, and instead, he took a drop for a one-shot penalty.

The media pointed out that Tosti had a clash with Fox even before that.

However, the experienced Australian stressed in an interview with the media that the media exaggerated things, explaining what happened.

I think it was overblown completely. There was something made of nothing, Fox told the Herald.

I asked him if he wanted me to go while he was taking a drop and I kind of didnt get a reaction out of him, and I was like, okay, thats fine, no issue.

It probably looked like something, and it wasnt. I was just trying to be courteous and give him some more time, and he was happy to go. There was no issue there."

Ryan Fox explains the situation

Although Fox admits that his opponent may have reacted impulsively in some situations, he is not a person who blames him for that, saying that the two of them did not have any huge problems. He, on the other hand, believes that the media exaggerated things, wanting to create additional chaos

The other stuff I read about him slow playing stuff, I certainly didnt see his interaction with the rules official on eight as well. It was one of those things when I read the stuff afterwards, I was like, okay, I didnt realise there was so much being said about it or anything. I didnt think there were any issues playing with him on Sunday.

Hes renowned for being a bit hot-headed anyway, and there was certainly a couple of times where there was that, but he certainly didnt put anyone off as far as I was concerned. He certainly wasnt trying any gamesmanship or anything like that. It was kind of a big deal of pretty much nothing, from what I thought.

Fox was delighted with the performance of his compatriot, Min Woo Lee, who won his first PGA Tour title, not having an easy job.

In the final round, he was threatened by Scottie Scheffler, who wanted to overtake him, but in the end he failed to do so. Ryan admitted that he enjoyed playing against Lee, and seems to have positive feelings about the future of this young golfer.
