Akira Tozawa has been with WWE for many years and continues to appear on TV regularly. He is a veteran with 20 years under his belt, but it appears that Tozawa has hinted at stepping away from professional wrestling.
The Alpha Academy member took to Twitter and uploaded a photo of himself from his first match back in 2005, where he stated that its been two decades since his first wrestling match and he feels he might have been wrestling for too long, seemingly hinting at retiring, as he said, Its been 20 years since my first match. Maybe Ive been doing this for too long
Tozawa began his journey in 2005 with Dragon Gate, where he won several championships and became a major star. In 2010, he went to the United States to wrestle for companies like PWG. His matches in the U.S. helped him become known around the world.
In 2016, Tozawa joined WWE after competing in the Cruiserweight Classic tournament. He impressed fans, and WWE gave him a full-time contract. In 2017, he won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship and eventually, he also won the 24/7 Championship many times. Its to be noted that reports in 2019 indicated that he had plenty of time left on his contract at that time.
With 20 years in wrestling and a successful career, it wouldnt be a surprise if Akira Tozawa is considering life after the ring. Whether he becomes a coach or leaves wrestling altogether, his impact on the business can never be understated.
