This year's edition of the Masters will be quite interesting due to the arrival of LIV Golfers, 12 of them, who are ready to convince the haters of this controversial league of their qualities. Public reactions are divided, but it seems that the majority believes that Bryson DeChambeau is the LIV Golfer with the greatest potential to succeed at this year's edition.
NBC Sports analyst Brandel Chamblee is not convinced that Bryson can write history in this competition. Chamblee is not sure that Augusta National is a great place for DeChambeau, not being optimistic that he can play the ideal tournament.
"No, I dont.
I still dont think the course is a great fit for him. Of course, hes a phenomenal player, so hes certainly capable of playing some really good golf there. Its just not a great fit for him.
I referenced this last year, but if you go back 25 years, the winners, theres 1,800 holes they would have played en route to winning the Masters. Collectively, theyve made six double bogeys in 1,800 holes. Thats .003 percent of the time theyve made mistakes. He makes almost two and a half on average every time he plays the Masters."- he said, as quoted by Golf Monthly.
Brandel Chamblee: There are some places there you just cant miss it big
The 31-year-old's previous performances don't exactly make Chamblee optimistic that this golfer is ready to take such an important step this time around. Even though he won the US Open last year, that doesn't make most people optimistic.
"His big miss there, which is fine the way they set up US Open golf courses these days, gets him in trouble at Augusta National. There are some places there you just cant miss it big. His in-to-out move is not ideal for a lot of the hanging lies or the hook lies there that you get. He gets some pretty big surprises in that regard."- he said.
The well-known analyst continued, saying that Bryson is far from the favorite to win, especially since he is out of form this year. Looking at the statistics at LIV Golf, Chamblee is not convinced that DeChambeau can be superior at this year's Masters. However, Brandel does not want to deny that Bryson is a great golfer, with the potential to win trophies.
This golf course, in his opinion, is too abstract, and he feels that such conditions do not suit DeChambeau.
We will see if this kind of doubt in him can awaken additional hunger and desire in the American golfer to convince, not only Chamblee, but also the whole world of something completely different.
