Playing at the Masters is every golfer's dream. Even when, as a kid, you take the golf clubs in your hands and go to the golf course, as if automatically, you first fall in love with the Masters and dream of playing in the Majors one day. Although few achieve that dream, it seems that such an experience is never forgotten and remains deeply etched in your memory.
This year's Masters will also feature golfers from LIV Golf, the controversial Tour, which arrived on the golf scene three years ago.
Few players from this Tour are motivated to make history, and Phil Mickelson seems to be one of them.
An experienced golfer, talking about the Masters, stressing that it is like a religious experience, while confirming that it is a special feeling to be a part of this story.
"It's almost a religious experience every time you set foot on Augusta National," said Phil Mickelson, as quoted by Japan Times.
"Knowing every time we go back we're a part of the history ... it's just a special feeling to be a part of that."
Sergio Garcia shares his views about Masters
Sergio Garcia, the golfer who also shocked the public by joining the controversial Tour, shared his emotions about this year's edition. As a former winner of this competition, and as someone who will make his 100th Major start, Garcia admitted that he is looking forward to this experience.
"Not a lot of people have been able to get over the 100-major mark, so it's obviously an honor and something I'm super proud of," Garcia said.
"I'm just looking forward to going there. Really enjoy the week no matter what happens game-wise."
Jon Rahm, whom many consider the main weapon of this Tour, cannot be so optimistic, especially because of his form, but the 30-year-old is trying to draw some positive things, believing that this year's edition can be a unique experience for him.
"I've scored really well but with some level of discomfort in some parts of my game that I need to get over to accomplish bigger things," he said.
"I'm very close to that if not over that."
