AEW cant seem to catch a breakjust days after Switchblade Jay White was ruled out of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament due to injury, another major name has reportedly joined the injured list: Orange Cassidy.
According to Fightful Select, the former AEW International Champion is now sidelined with what is believed to be a torn pectoral muscle. The early indication from those within the company were that Cassidy possibly tore his pectoral muscle, the report noted.
Cassidys last match came two weeks ago in a high-octane bout against Ricochet and Mike Bailey. Its still unclear when the injury occurred or how serious it truly is, but no official word has been given on whether Cassidy will require surgery.
Theres also no current timetable for his return, making his status for upcoming AEW events extremely uncertain. With AEW already reworking creative plans following Jay Whites injury, Cassidys absence will only add to the backstage scramble.
Dave Meltzer revealed that Jay White is also dealing with a broken hand and surgery situation, while Bryan Alvarez added, Its a legitimate injury not expected he was going to be out a really long time.
As AEW tries to maintain momentum, losing two of its most over stars in a short span is a serious blowespecially with the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament heating up.
What are your thoughts on AEWs growing injury list? Will the company be able to pivot effectively, or is this a sign that more talent rotation is needed? Sound off in the comments and let us know who youd like to see step up during Cassidy and Whites absence.
