The first three months of the 2025 season have certified that Carlos Alcaraz has not filed the weaknesses that have characterized his career so far. The former world number 1 has worked with enormous effort during the off-season, especially from a mental point of view, being aware that he has to eliminate the ups and downs to try to dethrone his top rival Jannik Sinner and return to the top of the ATP rankings.
After being defeated by Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals at the 2025 Australian Open, the young Spanish champion lifted his first trophy of the new year in Rotterdam while also breaking a small curse in indoor tournaments.
The 4-time Grand Slam champion thought he had finally found the right path thanks to his triumph in the Netherlands, but the defeat to Jiri Lehecka in Doha insinuated some doubts in his mind. The current world number 3 confirmed that he is not going through his best moment even in Indian Wells and Miami, where he largely disappointed expectations given the absence of Sinner.

His run in California ended against Jack Draper in the semifinals, while in Florida he was eliminated already in the second round by Belgian veteran David Goffin.
Roddick warns Carlitos
The 21-year-old from Murcia took a few days off in Mexico with his family after the disappointment in Miami, but he has already started practicing on the red clay where a reaction from him is to be expected.
In the latest edition of his famous podcast, former world No.1 Andy Roddick admitted that Carlitos lacks the necessary mental clarity sometimes: "When he doesn't have the best sensations on the court, he tends to play more aggressively and mistakes multiply.
Alcaraz likes to dominate rallies and does not like to wait, this is his main strength and his main weakness. Superpowers can become a weakness if they are not used at the right time."
