Giovanni Vinci showed a lot of promise when he debuted on Friday Night SmackDown last year as a singles wrestler. However, his momentum stopped, and he was off WWE TV for a long time before being released this year. With that in mind, it appears that WWE dropped their plans for Vinci before his release.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider recently held a Q&A session where he answered various questions from fans. Johnson was asked if Giovanni Vinci was always meant to receive weeks of hype through vignettes only to lose in three seconds, or if there was an original plan for a push that was later scrapped.
Mike Johnson explained that there was a plan in place for Giovanni Vinci before his release, but it was ultimately dropped. However, there is no information on what the original plan was.
Giovanni Vinci was originally part of GUNTHERs Imperium faction but was later removed. He was then repackaged in NXT, but his character changed again. After returning to Imperium, Ludwig Kaiser removed him from the group. Vinci was given a new character on SmackDown, but he was soon taken off TV.
Now that Vinci is no longer with WWE, fans are excited to see where he goes next. With his impressive in-ring skills, he has a good chance of succeeding in AEW, NJPW, or TNA Wrestling. These promotions could give him a proper start without the constant character changes that affected his WWE career.
