WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg has never been one to shy away from criticismbut now hes making it clear that hes not letting the noise get to him. During a sit-down with Ariel Helwani, Goldberg addressed how he handles backlash from his critics and those who question his place in wrestling history.
Everybody who is human, cares about what people think, Goldberg admitted. But you have to care to a certain level, number one, and you have to care about what they think and how they express their thoughts toward you, and if its negative, you have to learn to turn it into a positive.
For Goldberg, its all about using the hate as fuel. Im not afraid of hard work, Im not afraid of going out there and being better than I was yesterday, he said. If these people dont deem me worthy of being in the position that I am, and being Goldberg, and attaining some of the goals that Ive attained, then Im going to show them by the next thing that I do.
Goldberg also shared a more personal insight, revealing that while hes always pushed himself to the limit, its something hes learning to balanceespecially when mentoring younger athletes and his own son. Its a blessing and a curse, he said. I try to teach a lot of athletes coming up, but most importantly, I try to teach my son that its a very good thing to be extremely hard on yourself. But its also a very bad thing because you have to step back every once in a while and really look at your accomplishments, and understand that all the hard work has paid off.
Goldbergs legacy in wrestling remains a hot topic, and whether youre a fan or not, hes clearly not going anywhere quietly.
