WWE SmackDown on April 4 was quite a show as the blue brand rolled into the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. This marked a big return to the USA after a month-long European tour, but they were right back into the road to WrestleMania after that.
WrestleMania 41 needs a US Title match, and this weeks SmackDown saw them determine a new #1 contender for that history-filled championship. Braun Strowman and Jacob Fatu were able to throw down and finish their rivalry as they both fought for a shot at the United States Title.
Jacob Fatu and Braun Strowman collided in a last man standing match this week on SmackDown. Their battled went down just after Kevin Owens announced that he wont be able to compete at WrestleMania due to needing neck surgery.
These two fought all over the ringside area, and that brawl continued throughout a commercial break. They got a table involved when the break was over, and Jacob ate a big boot from Braun as he tried to send him through the propped up table.
Neither man would lay down for the ten count, and Fatu landed a dive on Strowman. Then Jacob tried to spear Strowman through a barricade, but Braun clocked him in the head with a chair and returned fire with a Strowman Express tackle through the barricade. At that point, the referee counted, but they both got up at 9.
The match went through another commercial break at that time. When they came back from break, the two were fighting on top of production crates on the floor of the arena. The crowd surrounded them as Braun Strowman suplexed Jacob Fatu through a table with. Fans chanted holy shi*t as the referee continued to count. They both got up at 9, and the match kept going.
Eventually, Jacob Fatu sent Braun Strowman through that table in the ring with a hip attack. The two were wrapped up in a broken table as the referee counted and Jacob was able to get up before 10 as Strowman stayed on the mat.
Now, Jacon Fatu will take on LA Knight for the US Title. We will have to see how things play out at WrestleMania 41, but this is certainly going to be an incredible challenge at the show of shows.
