Alex Hammerstone is back in MLWand he didnt return just to get a pop. After weeks of speculation, Hammerstone made a surprise appearance at MLW Battle Riot VII, officially marking his return to the promotion where he became a breakout star.
Hammerstone was introduced by Cesar Duran, who didnt hold back in his praise. Duran referred to Hammerstone as a franchise player, setting the tone for a major comeback moment. But Hammerstone made it clear hes not here for nostalgia.
I didnt come back just for the return pop, Hammerstone told the crowd. I came back to enter Battle Riot and reclaim the MLW World Championship.
Its a full-circle moment for Hammerstone, who left MLW in 2023 after dropping the MLW World Heavyweight Championship to Jacob Fatu. Before that, he held the title for an incredible 644 days, establishing himself as one of the promotions top stars. He also previously held the MLW National Openweight Championship during his dominant run.
Hammerstone recently wrapped up a short stint with TNA Wrestling, where his final match aired on the March 13 episode of iMPACT!. He challenged Joe Hendry for the TNA World Title in a losing effort after returning from knee surgery that had sidelined him since November.
His comeback at Battle Riot VII sends a loud message: Hammerstone is here to take back what was once his. Whether fans were ready for it or not, MLW just got a lot more interesting.
Is MLW the right place for Hammerstone to make his next move, or should he have jumped to a bigger stage like AEW or WWE? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
