WWE dropped its official list of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time, and fans are not here for one entry in particular.
The company ranked the WrestleMania 35 triple threat between Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair as the 10th greatest in historyand the reaction online has been overwhelmingly negative. While the bout made history as the first womens match to headline WrestleMania, many fans argue the execution didnt live up to the moment.
One fan said the moment was meaningful but the match didnt hold up: The only good thing about this match was it being the first womens main event lol. Besides that this sh*t was ASS.
Another called out the finish specifically, referencing the infamous botched pin on Ronda Rousey that ended the match prematurely: This is propaganda. The match was trash and they botched the finish to the main event of WrestleMania.
Wrestling content creator GoodMicWork even took a direct shot at WWEs ranking, writing: GoodMicWork names WWE ranking this match the 10th greatest Mania match as the 10th dumbest thing theyve ever said.
One user, frustrated with how WWE overlooked stronger matches, tweeted: This match should not be in any top 10 list.
Another added perspective by comparing it to the rest of that weekends action: Wasnt even the tenth greatest match of the weekend.
Some fans clarified that their disappointment wasnt about the women involved, but about the final product in the ring. What a joke. Im a big fan of womens wrestling but this main event was a letdown and very mediocre, one wrote.
And the harshest jab came from a fan who questioned the matchs placement on the list entirely: This match shouldnt even be in the top 50, let alone the top 10.
The triple threat match might have been a milestone in WWE history, but if the fan reaction is anything to go by, nostalgia alone isnt enough to justify its high ranking. The debate around this match continues, and WWE might have to take a long look at whether history and quality should be weighted equally.
