WWE RAW took place at the Target Center in Minneapolis on April 7, with WrestleMania 41 less than two weeks away. The show featured unpredictable moments, especially with a title match on the card.
Lyra Valkyria defended the Womens Intercontinental Championship against Bayley. With the Womens IC Title not having a WrestleMania match yet, you never know what they will book for the showcase of the immortals.
This match was the first of the night, right after Adam Pearce booked a triple threat match for the Womens World Title at WrestleMania. It also received a big fight feel thanks to Alicia Taylors ring introductions.
The two started off as they tried to out-wrestle each other. They traded holds and pinfall attempts as well, with neither of them backing down. Then Bayley landed a knee to Lyras face, as the two continued. The two of them will be partners on SmackDown this week in a gauntlet match, but this week they are opponents with a big prize at stake.
The two fought through a commercial break as Bayley maintained control. When the break ended, Lyra was fighting her way back, and then Bayley crashed and burned on a dive to the outside, Lyra dove on Bayley, but she was caught and hit with a Bayley To Belly as the referee continued counting, but they both made it back in.
They returned to the ring, where Bayley kicked out after a Nightwing. Bayley landed a running knee to the face for another two count. Then, Bayley hit a sunset flip bucklebomb to Lyra, but the champion fought on to land a fishermens buster suplex for a two count. Fans chanted this is awesome as the two continued.
In the end, Lyra rolled Bayley up for the win after she nearly tapped out to a Boson Crab. She also avoided a Rose Plant from Bayley in the process. After the match, Bayley didnt want to shake Lyras hand, but then she turned back and hugged her before they left.
We will have to see how the road to WrestleMania shapes up for the Womens IC Title. At this point, we are still waiting on a booking for the showcase of the immortals in Las Vegas.
