
Twin sistersAnnika and Kristina Penickova made a winning start at the W35 Boca Raton event. The 15-year-old Australian Open junior doubles champions received wild cards for the qualifications of the W35 tournament in Boca Raton.
Annika and Kristina played on the same court and delivered straight-sets victories en route to the second round. Annika battled against the 13th seed Victoria Gomez O'Hayon and notched a 6-4, 6-1 victory, her first on the professional level in over five months.
The young American grabbed the opener with an extra break on her tally. Penickova dominated the second set and raced over the top to book her place in the second round. Her twin sister, Kristina, stepped on the court after her.
Kristina battled against the 7th seed Nigina Abduraimova and notched a 6-4, 6-3 triumph. The 15-year-old controlled the pace and sealed the deal in straight sets to join her sister in R2. Annika will face the 3rd seed Jada Robinson, while her sisterfaces the 12th seed EnaKoike.
