With WrestleMania 41 just around the corner, fans are asking one big questionwhere is The Rock? After making waves earlier this year by standing side-by-side with John Cena at Elimination Chamber, The Final Boss has gone completely silent. Now, with less than two weeks until WWEs biggest show of the year, his status is still a mystery.
On the April 8 episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave the latest updateand it wasnt much. We are two weeks out and still nothing on Dwayne, Meltzer said, referring to The Rocks real name, Dwayne Johnson.
That silence is starting to speak volumes. The Rock hasnt really been mentioned much in recent promos by Cody Rhodes or John Cena, despite being a central figure in their storylines leading into WrestleMania 40. His absence has fans wondering if something is going on behind the scenesand Meltzer says there absolutely is.
When discussing the situation with Bryan Alvarez previously, Meltzer hinted that theres more to the story than WWE is letting on. Its what you think, Meltzer said cryptically, before adding, Even if you say it, theyre gonna all deny it. Everyone in the company will deny it.
The real challenge with The Rock is that nothing is ever truly certain until it happens. Hes known for doing what he wants, when he wantsand changing plans at the last second. Whether he shows up unannounced, pulls out of plans entirely, or flips the script mid-show, its all part of the Dwayne Johnson playbook. And right now, WWE is clearly playing the waiting game.
While Cody Rhodes recently gave respectful but pointed comments about The Rock during an interview with Complex, even he admitted that their issues might be very, very real. Rhodes added, I hope that the Final Boss can sit back and put his feet up and watch WrestleMania 41 and pat the sweat on his forehead with dollar bills that Ill be making him in another main event.
At this point, The Rocks involvement in WrestleMania 41 is anyones guess. Will he pop up in Las Vegas at the last second? Or has WWE been forced to move on without him? One things for surehes not out of the picture until the show ends.
