Jannik Sinner has not played any more tournaments after triumphing at the Australian Open for the second year in a row, preferring to suffer a three-month ban from the professional tour in order to avoid getting to the trial before the CAS in Lausanne which could have suspended him for a year or more.

After speaking with his legal team, the world number 1 agreed to this deal with WADA which generated an endless number of discussions among other players, insiders and fans. The 23-year-old Italian has already served a two-month suspension and is scheduled to return to the Rome Masters 1000 in May, with the chance to play in front of his home fans to better prepare for Roland Garros.

The ace from Sesto Pusteria used this period of forced break to file some details from a physical point of view, having a lot of time to work together with his fitness coach Marco Panichi and his physiotherapist Ulises Badio.

In addition, starting next week, the 3-time Grand Slam champion will be able to freely return to practice in any club and will also work the tennis court together with his two coaches Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill (who arrived in Monte Carlo a few days ago).

Sinner's return was confirmed

Everyone is curious to see what Jannik's level will be after several months without official matches.

Interviewed by 'Il Corriere dello Sport', top coach Patrick Mouratoglou revealed what he expects from Sinner when he returns to action in Rome: "I don't think this break will affect his level too much. He has won many matches and tournaments in recent months despite enormous stress, proving to have crazy mental strength.

In this period of time his top rivals had the chance to get close to him in the ATP rankingand build up confidence, but none of them have played particularly well so far."
