Drew McIntyre didnt hold back when he stopped by the Wafflin podcastand he had some harsh words for the new generation of WWE wrestlers.
The former WWE Champion made it very clear hes cut from a different cloth, and hes not impressed with what he sees from some of the newer talent.
Unless I was dead, I would continue the match, McIntyre said while talking about toughness in the business. He backed that up by pointing to a legendary moment in WWE history: Weve seen guys, you know, Triple H tore his quad off of the bone, continued the match and got put in a maneuver, the Walls of Jericho, where hes held in a maneuver that hurts your quads in general and his was not attached.
Thats when McIntyre really let loose. Thats the kind of mentality most of our superstars have. Maybe some of them, because some of the new guys are frickin pussies.
Its the kind of blunt, no-filter honesty fans have come to expect from McIntyre, especially now that his on-screen persona has blurred into real life. He didnt name names, but the message was loud and clearhe doesnt think a lot of todays wrestlers would have survived in the era he came up in.
McIntyre also talked about what truly matters in wrestling, explaining that storytelling and emotion should come before the moves themselves. The most important thing should be the emotion, like how it makes people feel, he explained. If youre doing a great wrestling match and no one gives a damn, whats the point? He added, Theyve got to care about the reasons that youre having this match in the first place.
Still, his most controversial take will no doubt be aimed directly at some of the younger stars who he clearly doesnt think have the grit or toughness to hang. Whether its part of his current character or how he truly feels, its definitely lit a fire under fans and the locker room alike.
Drew McIntyre isnt afraid to speak his truth, even if it ruffles feathersand thats exactly what he did here.
