The April 9 episode of AEW Dynamite was packed with unforgettable moments, but one of the biggest surprises came when Adam Cole officially rebranded The Undisputed Kingdom as The Paragon. Fans started wondering why they changed the factions name and now the reason behind the name change has been revealed.
While speaking on the post-AEW Dynamite show, Sean Ross Sapp explained the reasoning behind The Undisputed Kingdom now being called The Paragon. He noted that the Kingdom was never actually planned to be part of this group and hadnt been on television since they came out to celebrate with them, a moment that may not have even been planned.
Sean Ross Sapp noted that with the new name in place, it avoids any legal trouble as using the name Undisputed on its own likely wouldve led to issues, possibly even a lawsuit.
Therefore, its clear that Mike Bennett and Matt Taven are not going to be part of The Paragon either way. AEW actually trademarked the name The Paragon back in 2022, but plans to use it were put on hold due to a series of untimely injuries within the faction.
Now that both Kyle OReilly and Roderick Strong are back in action for the long haul, AEW felt it was the perfect time to finally make the switch and move forward with the rebrand.
Changing the name from The Undisputed Kingdom to The Paragon shows that AEW puts thought into both storytelling and trademarks. Now that the group has a solid name and all its members are healthy and ready to go, they have a great chance to stand out and make a big impact in AEW, especially with Adam Cole as the TNT Champion.
