Drew McIntyre was part of an ongoing storyline with the original Bloodline as he had waged war against them, but the storyline was abruptly dropped. In fact, it appears McIntyre was frustrated that WWE changed the direction of the storyline.
While speaking on theGetting Over podcast, Drew McIntyre was asked about his moment with Paul Heyman on Raw a few months ago, where it looked like he was going to go after The Bloodline. The question pointed out that Drew has problems with Roman Reigns, a strong rivalry with CM Punk, and a history with Seth Rollins. Now those three are in a triple threat match at WrestleMania, and it seemed like it couldve been a four-way with Drew involved, which wouldve made sense.
Drew McIntyre said that it definitely wouldve made sense because of all the history he has with them. The whole Bloodline Hunter thing is still part of his story, and he wishes he couldve been part of the WrestleMania main event.
McIntyre said his rivalry with CM Punk is already full of hate and cant go any further in a one-on-one match right now, so being in that main event to stop Punk from reaching his goal wouldve fit. He also talked about always fighting with Seth Rollins over the years, including a world title match at last years WrestleMania.
McIntyre brought up the Paul Heyman and Bloodline storyline too. Drew said he jokingly calls himself the Daddy of the Bloodline because he beat Brock Lesnar, which led to Roman having to bring Brock back. That started the Bloodlines rise and all the problems that came with it for Drew and others.
Drew McIntyre said if he hadnt won that match, things might have turned out differently, but Roman has always been tough for him to beat. No matter how many times theyve fought, Drew has never beaten him. So that story was already built and couldve been a great part of WrestleMania, which makes it frustrating that it didnt happen.
McIntyre stated that all three competitors in the match now arent clearly good or bad anymore. And even though Drew believes hes telling the truth and doing the right thing, people still treat him like hes the villain. He thinks that wouldve made the match even more interesting.
In the end, Drew McIntyre said the story going into WrestleMania still makes sense, and hes okay with that. However, he also thinks theres still time to go back to these rivalries in the future, especially since wrestling now cares more about whats happened in the past.
WWE also confirmed that Damian Priest and Drew McIntyrewill be squaring off against each other at WrestleMania 41 in one-on-one action. Even though he wont be in the WrestleMania main event this year, his drive for payback and closure means his story is still going strong, so well have to see whats next in store for him after WrestleMania 41.
